Hawaii advice

11:42 AM, Feb 06 2012

Seen this online from an interview that Doc had with Lackey.....take not peeps

Doc: If you were judging DKWT, what are the main three things you would be looking for to encourage riders to really tear the bag, push limits and bring out the essence of dropknee riding? Lack: Speed - Style - Power ....i would tell them no grovelling bullshit, surf the wave how it should be surfed, don't force moves on sections that aren't there, id be giving minus's for some of the shit I see go down on tour, I would just encourage people to surf smooth and look functional.

never a truer word....

The time for talk is over. The 2012 IBA Pipeline Pro is just weeks away and the Wildcard positions for the DK division have been selected. 8 riders will have the chance to compete at the famous break with the top DK riders in the world for a shot at the $10k prize purse. Kainoa McGee, Mason Rose, Leroy Kaiwi, Miles Kauhaahaa, Cass Sonoda, Grant Molony, Bud Miyamoto and Matt Lackey have all secured a spot in the main draw, after a massive 32 applications for these positions. "The amount of applications from around the world was epic" IBA DK Rep Clayton Pickworth said. "It just goes to show how highly regarded this event is and how much a wildcard position means to the riders". "Unfortunately we can't give these to everyone, but there is still a chance for another 8 riders to get a position if they are in the top 8 from the trials event at Sandy Beach" Pickworth said. All entries for the trials and main event will be online at www.ibaworldtour.com from the 17th January 2012, so get onto it as soon as you can to secure your entry.
